The Reverend Jacob Jennings pulled into the all too familiar parking lot early in the afternoon. He walked down the pathway around the grassy commons, wanting to delay this meeting as long as he could. The relative silence of this place only amplified the rhythmic crunch beneath Jake's boots as he walked over the pink granite gravel. The long meandering trip between his truck and the conversation that awaited him didn't help him gather his thoughts or settle his emotions as intended. No, each step just made the anticipation that much worse.
Without a conscious thought, Jake turned toward an uncomfortably familiar stone bench and sat down on its cold damp surface. He slowly examined the large carved stone in front of him, a centerpiece for Jake in this vast garden of grief. He stared at it and thought about the events over fourteen years ago that led him to put it there.
"Mindy, I can't believe it's been almost a year since I moved to Sunset. It seems like yesterday and an eternity. So much has happened that I never thought would. Meeting Jen was never on my radar, but I know God put us together for a reason. I think you even showed me in your own special way that you approved of her.
"When we got engaged, we had everything planned out and going our way. We were happy, Jen's boys were happy. Everything seemed perfect… A lot has happened since then."
Jake buried his face in his hands in a vain attempt to keep the tears from escaping. "Mindy, with all the terrible things that have happened since the engagement and what's come between me and Jen, I don't know if I have the strength to fix this. I love Jen with all my heart, but if I don't find a way to make this right, I'll lose her and probably the ranch too. I'm sorry Mindy. I wanted to be a good husband to Jen… What do I do now?"

It's a beautiful written story, I loved the continuation from Sunset at Dawn.

What a great continuation of a engrossing story line! The characters were realistic and drew me into their struggles. Sunset's Hope is uplifting, addictive and difficult to put down....looking forward to the sequel!

Sorry, but verb tense agreement is very important. Please hire an editor and rewrite. The first paragraph of the first chapter threw me off.
