I recently finished reading the book, All you need is love: And a big handbag by Julie Hodgson, and I was really impressed with the read.I went into the novel expecting a boring run of the mill average romance and was pleasantly surprised to find a book that was so much more than I was expecting. Compelling and well developed characters, twists and turns and lots of adventure just kept me turning the pages on this one.
The book tells the story of Maggie, who falls in love with a popular man that attends her local college. As a total nerd, she doesn't expect that the two of them are going to end up together, but she beats the odds with this one and they end up together. She is happy that she starts the relationship with him in spite of all of the troubles it causes for her.
The book goes on to chronicle the details of their lives, which I am not going to spoil for you here, but I have to say I was not expecting things to unfold quite the way they did. Julie Hodgson is extremely talented, has a unique writing style and voice, and has created some well developed and unique characters that will stay with you for awhile after reading the book. I highly recommend it.

This book was full of twists and turns that kept me interested from page one! I loved it!!
All You Need is Love And a Big Handbag by Julie Hodgson was a fantastic story full of love, betrayal, surprises and much more. I was expecting to read a normal romance, but was slapped in the face (in the best way possible) after finishing the story.
This was a quick read. It follows Maggie, who fell in love with the popular boy in college. Being the nerd she felt she was, she never expected to be the one to end up with Jack Spalding, but she was happy she did. That was until 15 years and two kids later, she began suspecting that he was cheating on her.
They had two 6 year old boys, who they both loved dearly, but after having them things just seemed different. After doing an investigation of her own, she came across a few pieces of evidence that led her to believe she was correct in her original assumption. This takes her to Bryson's Place, a shabby, rundown hotel where she learns that her life has been quite a bit different than she ever thought.
I am not going to spoil the book for you. You will just have to read it and I definitely suggest you do so. I was so happily surprised to have come across this title and I loved every minute. The story line kept me hooked, it was hilarious, and the twist was outstanding! If you're looking for a quick, yet exciting read, pick up All You Need is Love And a Big Handbag right now!

It was unexpectedly a good read. I finished it in one sitting and experienced a myriad of emotions love, uncertainty, longing, fear, excitement then reconciliation- all the time laughing at the ridiculously big bag that saved the day. Congratulations to the author!!!
This was a great plot but it had more points than a porcupine & that kept me guessing the next step or chapter of this couples lives. It was disturbing to see that the husband could be so secretive 10 years & the wife could be so dense or nieve during that marriage. And...she was an educated teacher. It takes all kinds to make the world go round.
I freaking love these characters so hard! Very good story and very well written with a lovely stile .I really enjoyed reading this book. Read this and you won't be disappointed!
I loved this book. In one word FUN. I really liked how the protagonist laughed all the time about herself and all the plot twists that kept me stuck to the novel. As a woman I totally identified with all the situations and the ending was certainly surprising and unexpected. I totally recommend this awesome book.
Human relationships are never as simple as we'd like them to be and the protagonist of this story finds that out for herself in a sweet, funny yet gut wrenchingly familiar way. This book is a guilty pleasure for anyone who's ever felt insecurity but thought they'd outgrown it, anyone who has done some really silly and embarrassing things in the name of love and romance. Highly recommended.
